Dr. Joseph Amunategui II Honored with  State of Florida PAL Award

"The only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve" Albert Swchweitzer

Dr. Joseph  Dr. Joseph Amunategui II has been a volunteer for the Hallandale Beach Police Athletic League (PAL) program since its inception in 2004. Dr. Joe, as everyone knows him by, has sat on the PAL board for the last two years. His leadership and close ties to the business community has been a major blessing to the program. Aside from being a past president of the local Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Hallandale Beach, Dr. Joe often reaches out to other contacts to garner sponsorship support for the Hallandale Beach PAL program. On a yearly basis he monetarily sponsors four baseball teams and two soccer teams. In addition, he sponsors every major fundraiser we host such as our Texas Hold-em Tournament, 5k/10k Run and our Annual Comedy Show. His generosity knows no bounds. Hallandale Beach PAL Executive Director, Jonathan Carillo Writes, "Our local track team had the opportunity to attend the AAU Jr. Olympics in Detroit, Michigan in the summer of 2013. Due to the high travel cost, each child had to pay $300 in order to offset the total cost. We had quite a few kids that cannot afford this trip. When we discussed that at our last PAL Board meeting, Dr. Joe whispered in Major Kenneth Cowley's ear and said he would sponsor on of the athletes registration cost."

Aside from being a Board Member and a major financial contributor to the PAL program, Dr. Joe also coaches in the program year round. Each year he serves as a head coach in our Fall and Spring baseball seasons and as an assistant coach in our Summer and Fall Soccer seasons. Dr. Joe is an energetic coach who preaches and believes in teamwork and fair play. Even during loses, you would never know as his kids are still in high spirits and ready for the next challenge. With the demand of running a Chiropractic office and with a family of three wonderful kids and a beautiful wife, the amount of time he spends at the PAL fields should be commended. Dr. Joe goes out of this way to provide his services so that our athletes can get free physicals. As always happens, prior to the season start, the PAL gets swamped with new players that have no access to a physician. Unless Dr. Joe completes these physicals, these payers would be unable to play.

Dr. Joseph Amunategui II is worthy of receiving this prestigious State of Florida PAL Award. Dr. Joe not only supports this  program financially, but more importantly with his time and commitment to the youth of our community. I have yet to hear the word "No" from this man and I know our program would not be as successful if not for the efforts given by Dr. Joseph Amunategui II.
